This application is subjected but not limited to the following Terms and Conditions:

Online Application for General Licence (Trade Plates)

1. These Terms and Conditions are supplemental to and are to be read together with the Conditions of Use found at the footer of the e-Services@ONE.MOTORING website accessed via onemotoring.lta.gov.sg.

2. All capitalised terms used and which are not defined in these Terms & Conditions shall have the same meaning as ascribed to them under the Conditions of Use.

3. You are to provide the required details of your company. You agree, represent and warrant that the details of your company and the particulars of the vehicle are true, accurate and complete. Supporting documents are to be scanned and attached as image files (in JPG format, file size of not more than 5MB). Changes cannot be made once the application is submitted.

Use of the General Licence (Trade Plates)

1. Any bona fide manufacturer, repairer or dealer in motor vehicles may apply to the Registrar of Vehicles (the "Registrar") for a general licence.

2. The general licence is renewable either six-monthly or annually.

3. For the period of the licence, there is to be in force the policy of insurance for each general licence issued.

4. You will ensure that any trade plates and licence holders supplied by the Registrar will not be altered in any way or duplicated. You also agree and acknowledge that such trade plates and licence holders remain the property of the Registrar and will be returned forthwith to the Registrar whenever the general licence in respect of which they are issued is cancelled, suspended or is not renewed and that it is an offence under the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicle, Registration & Licensing) Rules not to do so.

5. The trade plates shall be fixed in front and at the back of the motor vehicles (at the positions where the front and back vehicle registration number plates of a registered vehicle would normally be displayed) and shall be carried at all times when the motor vehicle is in use under a general licence.

6. Whenever a motor vehicle bearing a trade plate is on a road between 7 pm and 7 am, the trade plate exhibited at the back of the motor vehicle or at the rearmost vehicle drawn by the motor vehicle shall be adequately illuminated so as to render every letter and figures of the trade plates is easily visible.

7. A general licence shall not be used by any person other than the person/company to whom the licence is issued for the purpose of test or trial in the course of his business as a manufacturer or repairer of or dealer in motor vehicles. He shall not allow the trade plates to be used by any other person unless the licensee or a person bona fide in his employment and acting under his authority is present and is in charge of the motor vehicle.

8. Subject to the conditions specified in paragraphs, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 above, a trade plate may also be used on a weekend/off-peak car or laid-up vehicle for repair purposes only.

9. A General Licence shall not at any time be used on a motor vehicle:

which has been deregistered;
which is not allowed to be used on the road because it does not meet the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction & Use) Rules (e.g. some engineering plants);
which is registered for Restricted Usage ("RU") and bearing a RU registration licence plate at all times; or
which is being used for the conveyance of passengers for hire or reward or for the conveyance of goods in the course of trade or for the delivery or removal of goods.

10. Without prejudice to the Conditions of Use, the Land Transport Authority shall not be responsible or liable for any damages, losses or expenses including direct, indirect, special, punitive, economic or consequential losses and damages, howsoever arising from or in connection with this application.

11. You declare and certify that you are the registered owner of the general licence which is the subject of this application/query or, if you are not, that you have been authorised by the registered owner to submit this application on his behalf and to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
